Matt Fraser Encorages you to Speak Out !

Some of the things that I like to see are outcasts and people with ambition speaking out for what they believe in. They do not conform to the rules of society and are not afraid to let their voices and opinions be heard, even though they fear that others may looks down upon them or their beliefs. So many times we do not stand up for what we believe in, and that’s a problem.

What really impressed me was the recent story of Jessica Ahlquist who spoke out and sued the school department over a prayer banner that she disagreed with hanging in her school auditorium in Cranston Rhode Island. Cranston being my hometown this story really stuck out to me. Although my own personal belief is that the prayer banner should remain hanging the integrity of this young woman is unbelievable. Although she is only in high school she has more motivation than most of us when it comes to voicing what we believe in. She has had the courage to voice her opinion although she has been tormented because of it. Even though most people like myself do not agree with her decision to have the prayer banner removed, they should respect her for standing behind what she believe in.

This case has really got me thinking, so many times we try to force out beliefs on others or get others to see our point of view when in fact we don’t take theirs into consideration. If anything this fight over the prayer banner should motivate us to take a stand for are beliefs but also keep in mind how others are feeling when we make a decision.
